Jean-Pierre Refuses To Answer Doocy On Whether Biden Will Debate Trump

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre noticeably dodged a question from Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy over whether President Joe Biden would agree to debate former President Donald Trump this fall if the latter secures the GOP nomination.

The question came amid a post by Trump on his Truth Social platform in which he called Biden out for a debate “anytime, anywhere.”

“It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People,” Trump wrote. “Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE! The Debates can be run by the Corrupt DNC, or their Subsidiary, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD),” he wrote, adding: “I look forward to receiving a response. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

That may have led Doocy to press KJP on the issue.

“Just for clarity, it’s possible that there will be no Joe Biden-Donald Trump debates this fall?” Doocy asked during Wednesday’s daily press briefing.

“Is that what you’re excited about?” she said in response. “Is that what you wanna see?”

“Because you keep asking me. You’ve asked me about three, four, five different times in different ways and –” the press secretary continued before Doocy cut her off.

“How would President Biden do in a debate? I’m not asking a question about a specific debate. I’m just asking, how he would do in a debate?” the reporter asked.

She then deferred to Biden’s 2023 State of the Union address when he allegedly “[took] on Republicans during giving a major speech. He took them on as they were heckling him.”

“He took them on and said he was gonna fight for programs — essentially said he was fighting for programs that the American people needed,” she claimed. “Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid — he stood there and fought for the American people.”

“I mean, that was pretty impressive. Some of y’all reported on that,” she added, without specifically addressing whether Biden would engage in debates with Trump.

The debate question comes on the heels of new revelations regarding Biden’s declining mental status, as observed by special counsel Robert Hur, who investigated Biden’s mishandling of classified documents.

Hur’s 388-page report released Thursday may have spared Biden the spectacle of a criminal prosecution similar to that his Justice Department imposed on Donald Trump, but it delivered a devastating blow to the 46th president’s re-election hopes by going out of its way to explain criminal charges weren’t levied in part because jurors might see Biden as a doddering, forgetful old man incapable of criminal intent.

“Mr. Biden will likely present himself to the jury, as he did during his interview with our office, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” Hur wrote in explaining his rationale for refusing prosecution. “…It would be difficult to convince a jury they should convict him – by then a former president who will be at least well into his eighties – of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”

“Our investigation uncovered evidence that President Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency, when he was a private citizen,” the report concluded.

Hur added that, for good measure, he believed Biden suffered from “diminished faculties in advancing age.”

A Republican state senator in Ohio who is running for the U.S. Senate is sounding the alarm anew about Biden’s mental status following Hur’s report.

State Sen. Matt Dolan told Fox News Digital that he’s “very concerned” about President Biden’s seemingly declining mental health, especially when considering the prospect of another four-year term, which most Americans, according to recent polling, don’t believe he can effectively serve.
