Airline Will Allow Dogs And Cats In The Cabins
Virgin Airlines in Australia has announced plans to allow pets in the cabins of their planes, making them the first airline in the country to offer this service. The decision comes after a 2021 survey revealed that 85% of respondents were in favor of pets in the cabin, with 57% stating they would fly more frequently if allowed to bring their pets.
CEO Jayne Hrdlicka expressed excitement about the initiative, citing the airline’s commitment to accommodating passengers’ desires to travel with their pets. While assistance animals will still be allowed to travel for free, small dogs and cats will now be welcome in the cabin as long as they can fit in an approved carrier under the seat in front of the passenger.
To address concerns about allergies and ensure minimal impact on passengers without pets, Virgin Airlines will implement strict rules and safety measures. The specific fee for pet carriage has not been disclosed yet, but the airline aims to launch the service within the next year.
