Nativity Display Lights up Times Square in NYC

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints illuminated New York City’s Times Square with a Nativity display on November 27 as part of its annual Light the World initiative. The event aimed to spread hope and joy during the Christmas season. Nine national and global nonprofit representatives participated in the campaign.

Approximately twenty-seven digital displays in Times Square showcased Nativity scenes with dark blue starry backgrounds, encouraging people to let their light shine and remember Jesus Christ, featuring the verse John 8:12, “I am the light of the world.”

Monsignor Kevin Sullivan of Catholic Charities praised the effort to bring light to a dark world and partnered with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The initiative also introduced “Giving Machines” in Times Square and 60 other cities worldwide, nearly doubling from the previous year when it was available in 28 cities. The Times Square Giving Machines found their permanent holiday location in front of The Church of Our Saviour at 59 Park Ave.
